Happy Friday, my friends! I’ve got a great online shop to share with you today: The Inside! If it’s new to you and you love fun fabrics and customizable, affordable furniture, read on. You’re in for a treat!

The Inside is a an online-only retailer founded by Christiane Lemieux, who also started Dwell Studio, which is one of my favorite brands (it’s now owned by Wayfair). She’s a fantastic interiors and household goods designer and when I discovered her latest endeavor, The Inside, I knew I’d be a big fan.

The gist is this: choose one of their furniture pieces (a “silhouette” if you will) and then customize it with one of their 60+ different fabrics. They’ll then make it for you from scratch (in the US!), and ship it to you for free. You’ll receive your piece in about a month. They’re constantly introducing new fabrics and collaborating with other fabulous folks for new collections, so you definitely want to check back frequently to see what’s on offer!

The bottom line? You get gorgeous, unique pieces of furniture for your home at a very reasonable price point. It’s pretty fantastic!

Right now, they have a limited number of silhouettes including beds, chairs, ottomans, and pillows. I’d imagine those would expand over time into other upholstered goods. I’ve had so much fun looking through the different fabrics they have and I’m loving all the options I’m seeing. They’ve got styles ranging from boho to coastal to traditional, solids to bold prints. I’ve rounded up a small selection of some that caught my eye below and popped them onto different pieces of furniture, but there are tons more on the site, so be sure to head over there and check them out.

Scroll on down to see my picks. You can find text links as well as a slider of clickable images that will take you right to the item on the website(If you’re on a feed reader or in your email, you’ll need to head to the full site to access that feature.) Happy browsing!

There are so many fabulous fabrics and furniture pieces at The Inside - it was so hard to narrow it down to just a few! Did any of these catch your eye? I want to highlight a few specific ones below and talk about what fabrics I would recommend using on these pieces.. Starting at the top…

  • Skirted Storage Ottoman ($249): This little guy is a hard worker! It’s not only an adorable, classic piece of accent furniture, it’s also super functional since it has storage inside. Place two of them under a console table, in front of a fireplace, or as extra seating in a living room. Since this is a more traditional style ottoman, I like the idea of using a solid fabric or a patterned one with stripes or a traditional/transitional pattern like the one I shared here.

  • Modern Wingback Bed ($999 for a queen): I’ve shared my love for the modern wingback bed in other posts as well (like this one from Target!), and this is another great example. As you can see, I chose a bold banana leaf fabric here, and if you go that direction, definitely keep the bedding and linens simple - let the bed be the star of the show! An upholstered bed in an in-your-face fabric has the same effect as wallpaper would on a wall - you want your other items to fade into the background a little bit and not compete too much. If you’d prefer to keep things more subtle and build your room off of that foundation instead, a solid or more neutral pattern would work really well too on this bed.

  • Mid-Century Bench ($345): The boho fabric I went with for this mid-century bench is definitely one of my top favorites that The Inside has right now. It’s part of the SF Girl By Bay collection and it comes in this gray and white colorway as well as an indigo. It would look fabulous on just about any one of their furniture pieces, but I particularly like it on this piece. Since the lines on this bench are very simple, my recommendation would be to go with a patterned fabric to really make it stand out

  • Cocktail Ottoman ($399): This ottoman is a great size at 35” square, which is awesome. A common mistake I see when people purchase ottomans is that they choose one that’s too small for their space and it looks dinky and/or doesn’t end up being super functional. With the wide variety of fabrics available, you can basically get a big ole custom ottoman that looks way more expensive than it is! I’d say you can pretty much go with any fabric with this piece since it’s simple and rectangular. Even busy patterns will work well on it.

  • Cocktail Chair ($449): This cute accent chair reminds me of some I’ve seen at Anthrolopologie. If you need a smaller-scale chair or two for a living room or to tuck in the corner of a bedroom, this one is a great option. This is one of those chairs where I think you could go with a bold print or a solid depending on the situation. The patterned fabrics are SO fun for this kind of chair, so I’d definitely be tempted to go that direction and use it as an attention-grabber in a room.

Have a great weekend, y’all!
