Get the Look: Mid-Century Modern Outdoor Patio
Welcome this week's installment of Get the Look! This time I decided to skip the inspiration step and go with my gut to create this mid-century modern outdoor patio space. I had this picture in my head of what I wanted to create and BOOM. Off I went! I let those creative juices flow, which was so refreshing - I was definitely in need of a little bit of no expectations, straight-up design fun in my life.
Since we're getting into the summer season where being outdoors is priority number one, I wanted to put together an outdoor living room that felt fresh, modern, and fairly neutral. I can totally picture this design living on a screen porch in someone's backyard or out on a deck somewhere overlooking the water!
The only challenge I gave myself for this space was that every piece needed to be on sale right now. I wanted to see how much bang I could get for my buck on this design AND show you how many good deals there are right now on outdoor furniture! If you're in the market, now is the time to buy, my friends. If you wait until mid-summer, your pickings will be slim because retailers will have already moved on to fall!
So, was I successful in my mission to find amazing pieces for amazing prices? Yes! Every item you see in this design is on sale except for those lanterns you see on the coffee table. They're extremely affordable though (and they come with candles!), so I figured I'd let them slide. :)

And here are some notes about the design and a few of the pieces I chose!
For this outdoor space, I decided to go with a very calm color palette and let the greenery and plants add a little bit of pizzazz. Thanks to the various patterns and textures, that calm color palette doesn't feel boring at all - that outdoor rug is certainly an example of that with its abstract geometric design!
The outdoor wicker sofa you see is actually a modular piece - you can purchase the individual pieces to make the size and shape you want, which is perfect if you want to customize it to your space. You can make a sectional, love seat, or straight sofa like I did here.
The armchairs have a really cool corded arm and back design - I've been eyeing those since they were first released and now they're on crazy sale! If I didn't already have patio furniture, I'd snap those up in a heartbeat.
To make this space feel like a little oasis, I lined what would be the back wall with some wood planters. I put three planters together to form one long line for high visual impact (but low cost!).
And finally, we can't forget about that little majesty palm! This particular guy is from Amazon, which is my new favorite source for plants if I can't find something locally. I wrote a whole post about it if you want to read more about shopping for live plants online. I've now sent two plants as gifts to folks via Amazon and both recipients raved about them.
