Highly-Rated Neutral Furniture & Decor from Walmart

A roundup of neutral furniture and decor from Walmart

I’m not afraid of mixing high and low together in a home, so when I’m sourcing pieces of furniture and decor, I could be looking at Serena & Lily one minute, and then hopping over to Walmart the next. Now there’s some nuance to that of course - I’m likely not shopping for my next sofa at a lower end retailer, but I might find some great decor to complement that higher ticket investment piece there!

There are diamonds in the rough at just about every store out there, and I thought I’d take you through some of the great finds I recently came across at Walmart to show you just how great they can be.

As I shop anywhere, but particularly at more budget-friendly retailers, reading descriptions thoroughly for materials and construction, as well scouring reviews are keys to making sure what I’m purchasing is going to be good. Take your time looking closely at an item and it’ll pay off!

Walmart has really started to up their game in the home category lately. They’ve done some cool collaborations with brands and designers (a la Target), and that’s where I started my search for the pieces in this roundup.

I wanted to make sure they checked the boxes on:

  • Good style

  • Good proportions

  • Highly rated (at least four stars)

  • Decent materials

And because Walmart is such a giant retailer with a gazillion SKUs, I also added my own “filter” and stuck to neutral furniture and decor to add some cohesion to this set.

All of that led me to narrow my list down to 11 items for today! Let’s dive in…

Woven Dining Chairs ($399/2 pack):

I was blown away by the design of these. They’re part of the Dave & Jenny Mars for BHG collection and they’re good. They’re actually outdoor dining chairs, but they’d be great, durable chairs for the indoors as well. At $200/chair, they’re very reasonably priced considering they’re made out of teak (not an inexpensive wood). They seem well-worth the price tag.

Modern Nesting Accent Tables ($175/pair):

These come as a set of two and they look like something you’d find at West Elm or CB2, don’t you think? They’ve got a plaster look to them, which looks handmade and high end. I love that they can tuck away together or can spread out to serve different needs. The proportions of these are great. The tall one is about 20” in diameter and 24” high - perfect for next to a sofa.

Brass Arch Mirror ($80):

I cannot believe the price tag on this - $80 for a good size arch mirror is amazing. It comes in brass and black, making it very versatile. I can see this piece being perfect in a bathroom or above an entry console table. You can’t go wrong with the classic shape!

Woven Storage Basket ($40):

This is a great basket to corral items like a couple of blankets or soft toys. It’s a nice size at 13”, but not huge, so make sure the dimensions are a good fit for what you need to store. It could also tuck away on a bookshelf if you’ve got a larger lower shelf to fill. I love that it packs a lot of texture style into a little piece of functional decor.

Modern Brass Light Fixture ($59):

This is one of those pieces that I might have passed on if it hadn’t been for the stellar reviews. It’s hard to believe a light fixture at this price point would be good in person, but people seem very pleased with it! If you’re on a tight budget, but are really wanting to swap out some light fixtures in your home, this is a great option! It looks like it has a couple of different hanging options as well for versatility.

Neutral Stripe Outdoor Rug ($149 for a 7’x10"‘):

I love a good outdoor rug and this one is simple, yet well-designed. The varied widths of the stripes + the fringe detail make it look more expensive than it is. It comes in two sizes: 5’x7’ and 7’x10’, which would fit a nice variety of spaces.

Set of White Towels ($30):

I will always and forever be a fan of white towels. Finding ones that are absorbent, dry quickly, and wear well is important, as is the price. These look like they fit the bill! If you need to stock up in a budget-friendly way, this set of bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths is a great option. The reviews are what convinced me of that!

Organic Cotton Striped Comforter Set ($70):

Walmart recently launched a line with Gap for the home and I’ve been quite impressed with what they have to offer. They’ve got everything from curtain panels to bedding, and while not all of it has great reviews, there are definitely quite a few gems. This comforter set looks like a great, affordable find, and it comes in a few colors. It’s hard to go wrong with a stripe! I’d love to see this in a kid’s bedroom.

Ivory Textured Pillow ($25):

If you’re going to go budget-friendly with your pillows, make sure they have a zipper! That way you can swap out the insert for something a little more plush (I prefer down/feather) and give it a higher end look. This pretty ivory pillow is oversized at 24”x24” - great for a large sofa or sectional, or as part of your accent pillow combo on a bed. It reads as a solid, but the texture adds some really great dimension.

Gray Ombre Pillow ($25):

Ombre is a bit generous for this pillow - I’d describe it more as “tonal” with different shades of gray. It’s a nice, hefty neutral without being boring. It’s 22” square, which is one of my favorite sizes for a larger sofa pillow. Mix it with a 20” and a lumbar and you’re set!

Tribal Style Outdoor Lumbar Pillow ($30):

If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was from a source like Shoppe by Amber Interiors or McGee & Co.! It has a high end look and would be a great accent on a porch or patio. Sometimes well-designed outdoor pillows are hard to find, so I’d snatch this one up in a heartbeat.
