In today’s What Caught My Eye, we’re headed back to one of my favorite places for affordable art prints from independent artists: Minted! And right now, they’re having an anniversary sale, so you can save 15% sitewide with code ELEVEN!

They don’t run sales very often, so take advantage if you’ve had your eye on something! In addition to art prints, Minted also has a ton of paper goods and a continually-expanding home decor section that includes pillows, curtains, wall murals, and more. You might be familiar with their cards and invitations, but be sure to check out their home decor if you haven’t seen it. More on that below!

Shopping at Minted is such a great way to support independent artists. It lets artists create and Minted takes care of all the logistics like printing, framing, and shipping. It’s definitely one of my go-to places for art for e-design clients as well as my own home. Their prints are affordable, and come in a wide variety of sizes and frame choices (or you can just buy a print). Can you tell how much I love it?

Now let’s take a look at what caught my eye. You’ll find the links to my favorite products below the graphic, and you’ll also see a slider of clickable images that will take you right to the item on the Minted website. (If you’re on a feed reader or in your email, you’ll need to head to the full site to access that feature.) Happy shopping!

Favorite Art Prints from Minted

Looking for affordable art for your walls? Minted is a great place to shop! All of their art prints are by independent artists, and they have a large variety of sizes, frames, and customization options! I was drawn to abstracts, geometrics, and abst…

From left to right, top to bottom!

Balance No. 3 (Lindsey Stetson Thompson) | Scenic (Lindsay Megahead) | Autumn Kaleidoscope (Carol C. Young) | After the Storm (Sue Prue) | Organics 9_2_a (Alain Castoriano) | A Composition of Plants (Yanni Hui) | Abstract Seascape Pt Reyes (Caryn Owen) | Dancing Stars (Jennifer Hallock) | Stay Still(Laura Alvarez) | That’s How the Story Goes (Natala Baca) | Los Angeles Landscape (Kelly Witmer) | Shore Thing (Jess Franks) | Hustle Bustle (Jennifer Morehead) | Sediment No. 1 (Kelly Ventura)

As I was pulling this selection together, I noticed I was drawn to three types of art in particular: landscapes, organic shapes (sort of in the mid-mod category), and abstracts. I also found myself liking more earthy and muted colors than I typically have in the past. It’s interesting to see how our tastes evolve over time!

If you’re not sure what kind of art you like, I’d encourage you to go through an exercise like this on a site like Minted. Start with their entire catalog and scan through it quickly (don’t think too hard!) and open the link to anything that catches your eye in a new tab. Once you have a bunch open, go through them and see what they have in common. That will help you figure out your taste! Art is so subjective - there aren’t any right or wrong answers, so just go with what feels right.

In the category of “other fun finds”, I thought I’d share a few other things Minted has in home decor, starting with removable wall murals!

I professed my love for these a little while ago in my post about Society6, so if you want more ideas, be sure to check that out as well. Minted now carries removable wall murals like this abstract geometric version you see below. These are a really cool option for decorating a wall if you want something that has big impact. They’re similar to wallpaper, but are more meant to cover a single wall as one cohesive art piece, rather than be a repeating pattern that you could continue around a room. Check out the whole collection here!

Another item I recently discovered is curtains. The patterns are all created by independent artists just like the other pieces, and then printed on fabric to be made into curtains. Pretty cool, right? They come in both cotton and linen options, and six different lengths. They even have extra long curtains - 108”, 120” and 132” - which is amazing. Finding ready-made, non-custom curtains in lengths up to 11’ is almost unheard of, and they’re very reasonably priced considering how long they are! So, if you’ve got tall ceilings and are struggling to find curtains that work, this might be the perfect solution.

The final item I want to mention is pillows. If you’re looking for something unique for a sofa, bed, or chair, this is a good place to be. The patterns are fun and different from what you typically find in a big box store - they are designed by independent artists after all! It used to be that their pillows would take about 4 weeks to ship, which was definitely not ideal, but they’ve improved their turnaround time a ton recently - it looks like they now ship out in about 2-10 days. They just released a new collection as well for 2019, which looks like it has a lot of great options.
