12 Of My Favorite Beautiful Removable Wallpapers
"Deep Greens" Wallpaper by Sweet Pea Wall Design* in my Guest Room
Removable wallpaper is something I've had on the top of my mind lately since I just installed a whole wall's worth in our guest room for the One Room Challenge. Every time I walk past it and catch a glimpse of that pretty blue green floral, I'm reminded of how much of an impact it made on that space.
Wallpaper can be a total game-changer, but I know that it can be scary to commit to - especially if you have memories of some of the really terrible wallpapers of ages past or if you've ever had to remove some particularly difficult paper. And, if you're not up for installing the paste version yourself (which, let's be honest, I don't think many of us are!), you also have to find and hire someone to put it up for you, which can be pricey.
Well, there's good news for those of us who want to bring wallpaper into our homes, but in a low-commitment sort of way - enter removable wallpaper! This peel-and-stick version can be easily removed, but you don't have to think of it as temporary. These wallpapers act just like their regular paste cousins, but you have the option to remove it easily without worrying about damaging your walls. This is perfect for renters or for folks who want to take a risk with a wild pattern - there's no pressure to choose a wallpaper that you're going to be happy with forever. If you decide to change it up in a few years, no worries!
The other nice part about this wallpaper is that pretty much anybody can install it. It just takes a little bit of patience and a precise eye. After having the experience of installing it myself (I did the whole wall behind our guest bedroom in an afternoon), I will say that it would probably have been helpful to have a second set of hands around, but you can do it by yourself.
Now that I have one wallpapered wall in my house, I'm starting to think about other spots where I could add a little pop of pattern or color. I've got one place in mind that would be perfect for it. Maybe once I have a little more time over the summer, I'll do it and share the results!
There are SO many good patterns out there right now and the selection is seemingly endless. That definitely wasn't the case just a few years ago - I feel like temporary wallpaper has come a long way and is now available from a lot of retailers. Etsy* has a ton of options, and even places like West Elm and Urban Outfitters are carrying some now.
Since there are a bunch of options out there, I decided to round up twelve of my favorites to share with y'all today to make your search a little less daunting! Maybe some of you are contemplating putting some up in your own homes, and I hope these will inspire you and point you toward the perfect pattern. If you do install some, send me a picture! I'd love to see.
